There are times in a person’s life, when they reach a certain age, and that day should be marked with a large celebration which could include a birthday party band as entertainment, lots of food and all their friends and family. These dates are usually a sweet 16, when someone reaches age 21 or any of the years ending in a zero or a five seem to be cause for breaking out the streamers, balloons and party hats.
A comfortable location for the honored guest and all partygoers will be greatly appreciated in the fun time everyone has at a party marking a birthday or other day of importance. A formal function, such as a wedding, Bat or Bar Mitzvah, First Holy Communion, reunion or dance needs to be put on in a clean hall or banquet center in which people in attendance have enough room to dance if there is a live band performing, mingle and simply spread out from the crowd.
Eating a wonderfully prepared meal to live music will balance all the day or evenings happenings. Traditionally, meals in various cultures tend to bring people together and so does live music, which gives guest something to do after their big meal to start working off the calories. Guests could enjoy the tunes of their favorite songs, always better than people talking, or get out on the dance floor and cut a rug.
Depending on the age of the person doing the celebrating and the type of gathering, a live group for a birthday party could consist of that person’s most desired band, one they have heard before but perhaps never seen in person. Bands are separated into two groups, those that play other peoples music and those that play their own songs and music.
Those bands that play other peoples music are further broken down in to two more groups, tribute bands and cover bands. A tribute band pays homage to a certain band by the way they dress and play their music. The world is full of popular tribute bands like the Beatles sound-alike band, 1964 or the Dark Star Orchestra playing Grateful Dead music. In order to become a good tribute band, each individual in the group must sound and look nearly identical to someone in the original band.
A band or group that plays a certain amount of songs from a particular time period or decade like the 70′s or all house party music are considered cover bands. These bands tend to play the tunes that they know and love and are pretty close to sounding like the original band however they are not trying to act or be like that band.
A disc jockey could perform at a celebratory party; however this has much less appeal than a live band. There is something exciting about a group of people playing instruments verses speakers music from speakers that will have people up and out on the dance floor.
Additionally, a birthday party band consisting of live music could accept requests from guests for different songs; one band member could make statements about the honoree while his or her bandmates play music softly in the background or a live band could simply be a nice addition to a lively party.
